The Canadian High Commission, at Canada House in Trafalgar Square, is a key diplomatic building providing a wide range of services. Marldon UK provided an acoustic solution with a low profile, which solved sound transference issues without creating new problems with floor height.

The Problem

The Canadian Embassy is a busy set of offices where sound reduction is essential, not only to avoid disturbing the staff below through footfall and chair movements, but also to prevent sound transfer from confidential or sensitive conversations.

Standard acoustic flooring solutions required a build-up of around 20mm, which would have caused significant problems for the embassy. Not only would this have required the fitting of steps into the rooms, but would also have involved significant extra work in lifting the floors.
